Pension batch process - very slow!

Hi

I have been asked to look at why our PeopleSoft's pension batch process is taking hours to run.
It is running on SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard.
I have found a sql statement that relates to the batch process which I find to be very inefficient and would like to re-code this so a more efficient version.

I am proficient in sql and sql server, however I am not familiar with PeopleSoft.

If I re-code the sql so that the same results are returned would I be able to provide this to my PeopleSoft admin for uploading in to the pension batch process?
